A national hero against tubercolosis

A national hero against tubercolosis

Between 1931 and 1940 the “Federazione Italiana Nazionale Fascista per la lotta contro la tubercolosi”, every year, issued a set of ten revenue stamps to fund the fight against tubercolosis. The “postage stamps” – as they were incorrectly called - were sold in booklets with 10 pieces for 1 Lira or individually for 10 cents each.

In the 9th campaign of 1939 the first of the ten items showed Francesco Ferrucci. The stamp, if collected with four other identical ones, entitled you to a bookket called “I Condottieri” where several historical personalities were described; one of them was Ferrucci himself, with another great Florentine leader of the time, Giovanni dalle Bande Nere.
